First published in 2020 for private circulation among theatre folk, this collection of plays by Mrinal Mathur consists of two plays that capture issues that we face today through the inimitably sardonic lens that this playwright is known to use. The plays are written in Hindi and English, not out of any literary considerations but because they are the languages of the characters. As is his won't, the plays are largely bereft of stipulations of design and light but rich in characterisation and wordplay. They are written for a staging with economy of space, setting, and cast; even when having several characters. "Satya Shiv Sundar" questions the economic and business models of tech giants from the perspective of those left behind. "The Death Penalty" is a play meant to be read and performed for an exclusively adult audience as it deals with the sensitive issue of child abuse.
