This book presents discussion on scattering of sound by small isolated bodies and inhomogeneities, and experimental configurations for the study of scattering are well elucidated. Major features of the propagation and of the overall acoustic field are well described by ray-acoustic concepts. Examples of diffraction are transverse spreading of a beam of sound radiated by a baffled piston in a wall and transmission through an orifice are discussed. Analysis of the fundamental problem related to diffraction by a wedge is presented. This furnishes a building block for synthesis of models for diffraction by objects whose sides meet at edges. Limiting cases of high-frequency diffraction are also presented. Scientific approach for understanding Acoustic Scattering physical principles is well presented in this book with the help of advanced mathematics.
