In "The Altar Boy", the poet says that the Lord counts the virtuousness of immature creatures performed through their imperfections.God protects even a meek white rabbit from hunters and gives it eternal life.(The White Rabbit) We live in a world tormented by a myriad of maladies, pestilences and pandemics;it is a society exploited by blood-sucking human mosquitoes and even '"blackmailing is the fashion of the day ".Yet, when God marches to his vicinity ready to grant him boons, the poet asks neither for richness nor selfish gains,but "a healthy normal life". Some of the poems or abstract pieces,are a sort of staccato and crisp verses, where a reader has to delve deeper into their mystical meanings. There are poems that analyse positive and negative qualities in man.The poet realizes that this is a world where opportunists and hypocrites could only survive, and one could always live"dreaming of a heavenly celestial life ".At times, he portrays a pessimistic world of reality in his poems, but gradually it gets an optimistic culmination. There are overtones of his Christian upbringing and in many poems, he makes recurrent allusions to biblical stories.He wonders why a father, like Abraham, is ready to sacrifice his son just to please his God, or a mother, like Rebecca, conspires with her son Jacob to cheat his elder brother Esau.Then the poet asks:"Is there any tinge of love left in this world.In the poem,"Solitary Gaol",he says that "You shut yourself in the four walls of your house" and wait for a messiah, thinking "who will come to rescue?" In his poems, we find a very pious and innocent man closely glued to Christian tradition.The poet compares himself to a candle, trying to survive a whirlwind.At first,all his efforts to light the candle fail;he loses the match sticks one by one.Once the candle is lit, it is his turn to keep the fire alive and that too fails miserably.
