The book “Breastfeeding 1 to 100: A complete Guide of Breastfeeding” has been written for medical students (both undergraduates and postgraduates) who look forward to upgrade their knowledge in breastfeeding and related issues. The author tried her best to encompass all the relevant topics related to breastfeeding from the fundamentals upto recent advances such as anatomy of breast, physiology of milk secretion, epidemiology of exclusive breastfeeding in India and other countries, composition of breast milk at different time points during lactation period, assessment of adequacy of milk secretion, problems faced by mothers during breastfeeding and their solutions, need of galactogogues etc. in simplest and comprehensive language. Furthermore, due to the simplicity of language, the book may also play a crucial role in developing public awareness regarding the significance of exclusive breastfeeding for initial six months of infant’s life and harmful consequences which the baby may encounter if left deprived of it. Ample of efforts have been employed to explain the role of various galactogogues, their indications, side effects associated with conventionally practiced galactogogues and new insights about quickly emerging herbal galactogogues.
