This book explores the history of the Erinpura Cantonment, one of six major military bases establishedby the British in Rajasthan. It focuses on the 1857 soldiers’ rebellion at Erinpura, the formation anddissolution of the Meena Battalion, and the later contributions of these soldiers during World War II andin post-independence India’s security forces. Located near the Jawai River between Sirohi and Palidistricts, the cantonment played a crucial role in India’s First War of Independence. Though short-lived,the revolt reflected the growing unity and resistance of Indian soldiers against British rule. Today, theruins of Erinpura stand as silent witnesses to that historic struggle. This book aims to revive anddocument this forgotten chapter of bravery for future generations.
