In India’s democracy, the media has lost its exalted position due to strong control of the state. Media made a shift change in its priorities of reporting, which is driven by state and corporate interests which concentrate only on news that increases readership and viewership. Due to the adverse role of media groups’ affiliation with political parties, and the state is taking the law into its hands. Media rather oppose supporting or hiding their activity. There are many incidents happened in which journalists were either arrested or killed by the states for criticizing governments. This book will present current media developments and how they affect Indian society.
