The story centers around James, the narrator, and his friends. The three teenagers, two boys and a girl, grow up in the war-torn country of Syria. Their friendship spans from their carefree days of childhood to adulthood. They have their fun and adventures. They also discover each other - their likes and dislikes and their idiosyncrasies.The three friends learn that life never moves on expected lines. Circumstances force the three of them to go their separate ways. From the ensconced world of young carefree teens they are hurtled into the adult world. Hardships mark their adolescence. Trials and tribulations follow for each of them. They find that people can break promises, and betrayals happen. There are moments of joy and heartbreak. For all of them, life is an extended period of existential crisis. Do they find love in their lives? Are they able to survive the hardships of life? Will they meet again after years of separation?The story is set in Damascus and Lebanon, covering the period before and after the civil war.
