India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. The MSME sector has established itself as an essential driver for India's economy, it promotes entrepreneurial activities and generates substantial job prospects with minimum capital investment. It is crucial for the country's comprehensive industrial growth, as well as employment generation at the micro level. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the contribution of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of India was 29.2%. The proportion of MSME manufacturing production in the overall manufacturing output of India over the same period is 36.2%. In the year 2022-23, the proportion of exports of MSME defined items in total India exports is 43.6%. According to the Udyam Registration Portal, the total employment in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registered in India between 01.07.2020 and 01.08.2023 was 12,36,15,681 persons. To reach the target of Viksit Bharat by 2047, more emphasis is required on skill development, entrepreneurship development, and MSME development.Present book analyses the different aspects of skill development, entrepreneurship development, and MSME development in India with special reference to Jharkhand State. The recent policy initiative taken by the state government of Jharkhand, ‘Jharkhand MSME Promotion Policy 2023', highlights the state government's priority towards the development of the MSME sector. The book uses data from two ministries: (I) the Ministry of MSME and (II) the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It also analyses the development of MSME in Hazaribag District of Jharkhand State.
