Indian agriculture is vulnerable to multiple natural and manmade disasters and it is further aggravated due to impacts of climate change. India ranks third after China and USA in recording natural disasters. Weather related disasters have increased over the past 50 years and nearly 6800 natural disasters are occurring every year in the world which kills nearly 60000 people per year. The GOI under NDMA developed policies and plans to prevent, manage and overcome the extreme events in order to bring harmony and resilience among farming community.
