PREFACE TO THE FIRST EDITION Paediatric nursing is very essential profession in care of the child health. In the medical field, the paediatric nurses have more responsibility to take care of the child and parents. It must be expected that all child health nurses have competence and independent practices, good judgement, skill. -based subspecialized up to date knowledge and positive attitude towards care of the child health. A paediatric nursing student should be talented to understand the problems of the children and ready to help them whenever health care is needed. The entire paediatric nursing students must have special preparation and training to contribute the effective health care towards children. Being in a nursing profession for the 12years, I feel that a paediatric nursing textbook is required for everyone as per revised INC (INDIAN NURSING COUNCIL) syllabus. The main concept of this textbook to help paediatric nursing students. This textbook covers B.Sc. Nursing revised INC syllabus. I hope this textbook will help the paediatric nursing student to review their knowledge and practice in different aspects of child health care. In this textbook, most of the reference journals are written by eminent Indian and international authors, foreign books, WHO news, IAP and NNF bulletins. I have invested my best effort to prepare and enrich this textbook considering the level of the students and placement of the course according to INC syllabus.
