My new book, "I Thought, I Did -Information to Transformation”, provides an intimate ride into the ups and downs of romantic relationships. The plot focuses on a couple named Sarah and Alex (Fictional Characters for the Book) who decide to end their relationship after Alex's infidelity that shatters their relationship. The couple's journey describes how even the strongest bonds formed after years of trust and support are deeply strained when problems arise. But, it also shows there is hope when both partners commit to improving their understanding and encouraging communication and growth.Relationships are complicated, particularly in the modern world of distractions and increased mental isolation. Each partner has a unique history that makes relationships complex at different stages. We all carry our insecurities, past hurts, expectations, and changing needs into our most intimate partnerships, hoping for an instant fix or escape. However, it leads toconfusion, unrealistic expectations, sadness, and even betrayal, leaving considerable strain. Still, there is a ray of hope of getting back to each other that requires work, time and effort from both partners who want to do the hard work.In this book, Sarah and Alex nearly let their decade-long relationship end due to this incident. It devastates both, notably those who placed a lot of trust and a lifelong friendship. These two aspects were the very foundation of their life together. On the brink of separation, they decide to give therapy a chance in a bid to have clarity and confidence in their plans.Through counselling sessions and conversations together guided by psychological concepts and exercises I provide, Sarah and Alex slowly chip away at the walls that had developed between them. The process required a consensual decision from two individuals who wanted to be together and work on their relationship, taking every chance possible to mend things. They both agreed with each other, and that's how the name of the book “ I Thought I Did. “Their story inspires us with tangible tools for this purpose, from knowledge about relationships, emotions, and effective communication to needs, conflict resolution, and more.I hope any reader who finds themselves at a crossroads in their relationship or wants to deepen their bond with their partner can take away valuable insights from this book that they can apply to their lives and relationships. With compassion, courage, commitment, and some help, we all have the power to create healthy, mutually fulfilling relationships that can bear life's inevitable challenges.
