An important aspect of the new Competency Based UG Curriculum is the emphasis on student-centric teaching-learning(T-L) strategies; e.g. Foundation course, early clinical exposure, interactive teaching, participatory learning, small group T-L methods, self-directed learning, sports, short term student’s project(STS) and Electives. All these strategies facilitate active learning among the students. Active learning is the process that enables inquiry-based learning, and cooperative and collaborative learning by the students. The students are free to choose the electives of their choice amongst the Electives offered by the institute, one each from Block 1 and Block 2 as per the NMC guidelines. This logbook provides a structured format for recording the day-to-day activities the students shall be engaged in during the Electives, and assessment of students for electives with certification format. It will further enable the recording of the student’s reflection which is an important component of assessment and feedback mechanism in student-centric medical education, where the formative assessment facilitates learning across all domains. This logbook outlines methods and the processes to record the student's activities during the entire elective course of two months (Block I and Block II both) in a unified manner.
