The Atlas comprises both District-level malaria data (2000–2008) and Primary Health Centre-level data from various districts of Assam (2000–2007). The information has been compiled from District Malaria Offices and State Headquarters, based on routine monthly surveillance reports under the National Malaria Programme.Originally conceived by the authors from a services background, the Atlas was designed as a practical reference guide for Field Commanders, Service Medical Officers, and Paramedical Staff who may not possess prior knowledge of malaria risk patterns across Assam. While retaining its original operational purpose, the Atlas also serves as a valuable resource for researchers, public health professionals, regional health authorities, planners, and administrators. It offers a comprehensive and up-to-date source of epidemiological data for understanding malaria distribution and risk across the region.
