Several works have shed much light on the political, social, and economic history of the Mughals. However, certain areas are exciting parts of Mughal culture and have not been probed yet. The cuisine is one of them. Therefore, an attempt has been made in this work to outline the culinary journey of the Mughals. India had been the trading destination of many foreign merchants. Among the prominent group of merchants included the Arabs and Persians. Since the eighth century, few of these merchant groups got settled in coastal India. Henceforth, a process might have started for the gradual assimilation of alien Muslim culture and modification of Indian culture; though hesitantly. Successive Muslim invasions over the 11th-16th centuries fetched Afghan, Persian, and Central Asian impacts into north Indian gastronomy and the native populace gradually adopted these foreign customs. The emergent practice of dining and opulence culminated under the Mughals.
