The influence of my Paati, Janaki Swaminathan, has been immense in my life. Born to a Tamil family in the Shahabad district of Karnataka in 1939, who learnt the art of cooking at the tender age of 8, from her mother and grandmother. To honor her legacy and the profound impact her recipes have had on our lives, I embarked on the journey of documenting her culinary creations as a gift. Through this book, I aim to ensure that her legacy stays through generations and graces kitchens far and wide. Despite not pursuing professions like her brothers, she is, to us, the ultimate chef, radiating love through her dishes. The journey of creating this book, which started before the pandemic, spanned five years, proofreading in a pre-ChatGPT era. Yet, my underlying intention remains unwavering: to celebrate my grandmother's influence and to infuse a piece of both her and me into your kitchen. I hope you’ll buy my book.
