This book is about Flavonoid plant pigments.They are polyphenolics having Benzo -g-pyrone (chromone) moiety. They are found in berries, red cabbage, onion, Parsley, Kale, etc. having antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-viral & and inflammatory properties. A diet rich in flavonoids leads to a reduced risk of several different cancers. The book describes the results of structural elucidation of some new flavonoid pigments which are non-glycosidic in nature. Chapter -I describes the two isomeric pigments Lepisatim -A and -B extracted from the plant Lepidium Sativum. The constitution of Lepisatim -A is finally proved by synthesis and then by spectral data. Chapter -II deals with the revised new structure proposed for the pigment Rivularin which is extracted from the plant Scutellaria rivularis .Rivularin is finally proved by color reactions, spectral studies & finally synthesis.
