If justice means fairness, then how fair is the world if half its population is oppressed? Human rights are universal and Inclusivity is the key but are they practised? These may not sound like a typical questions for a lawyer to ask. But Honeyshya Raj is not a typical lawyer. She studies the paradox of everyday life - from paper to practise - and reaches inference which removes the blindfold. This book reflects on few gender based social evils namely Female Infanticide, Devadasi system, Chid Marriage, Polygamy, Sati, Dowry etc and measures the impact, the law has on them and presents a narrative review of suffering of Indian Female Populace pre and post remedial legal actions. The first passed law against Female Infanticide was the Bengal Regulation of 1804. Despite the intent, the outcomes were not effective. Later, more stringent laws were enacted with similar intent which resulted in similar consequences.
