The Income & Retirement Playbook addresses the often-neglected transition from accumulating wealth to converting a portfolio into a dependable retirement income. It begins with a fundamental shift in perspective: after the salary stops, the size of the corpus matters only insofar as it can generate sustainable cash flow. The book develops a multi-engine retirement architecture designed to address longevity, inflation and sequence-of-returns risk. The four principal engines are an equity core for long-term growth, fixed income for stability, REITs and InvITs for real-asset income, and covered-call income generated from the equity portfolio. The book also uses a bucket approach so that near-term spending can be funded without forcing equity sales during market declines. The objective is to create a rising income stream while preserving the underlying corpus for as long as possible. Rather than relying on a single asset class or a simple withdrawal rule, the book presents retirement as an engineered system requiring ongoing monitoring, rebalancing and disciplined operation throughout retirement.
