Nightmare

I live in Massachusetts, USA. I am originally from India. I grew up in Bankura, a small town in West Bengal, where I went to the best school in town, and later the best engineering institute in India and one of the best in the world called the Indian Institute of Technology. Finally, I did Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis, where after taking a class in numerical analysis, I was inspired to write a book on numerical methods, which materialized in Brazil where I taught food engineering at the university in a city named, Lavras. The book, "Applied Numerical Methods for Food and Agricultural Engineers" was published by the CRC Press in 1994. At present, I am writing another reference math book for K12 students.

I prefer teaching the whys rather than the hows, so students grow their confidence in developing their skills in solving problems with a little help if any.

I have developed some useful programs for the Windows operating system, one of which is Unit Conversion that I use quite frequently.

I love to text messages via WhatsApp but I avoid jargon, abbreviations, and forwarding as much as possible.

In school, my peers used to come to me to solve math problems jointly. They thought I spoke their language.

Mathematics has been my life since childhood and later I took the teaching profession, first in universities, and for over 15 years, at one of the DYS (Department of Youth Services) funded units, where I taught math to the "at risk" juveniles.

During the Pandemic, I taught math class online for over 1 year and found it very interesting and effective with the application of appropriate tools, such as Google Apps (Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, etc.), Edpuzzle, Khan Academy, Gizmos, ALEKS Math, BrainPOP, NewsELA, YouTube, etc.

I became a Google Certified Educator, Level 1, which gave me more confidence in using Google Apps and teaching online in general.

Besides math, my pastime is cooking. Many times in the past, I cooked for the entire unit having 50 heads or more. Students take part in cooking and enjoy it. Later, they use ratio and proportion to figure out the quantity of each ingredient to cook for a certain number of people.

I liked the story immensely. With my limited knowledge, I think it is not plagiarised. I also assure the author that "old wine in new bottle" is also precious.
