- Historians claim that it emerged and flourished in Delhi during the ‘Delhi Sultanate’ period from the 12th to the 16th century, and then again during the ‘Mughal Empire’ period from the 16th to the 19th century, when various court poets employed this language in their famous poetry and literature. It was later developed in the Deccan states.
